Abida Batool won the vacant WIBA World Atomweight title on a split technical decision in Pattaya after the ringside doctor stopped her fight with Thailand's Wandee Sinongkhrot in round 5 following an accidental headbutt.
Abida Batool is a world champion. The 26-year-old from Quetta beat Thailand's Wandee Sinongkhrot at FCC Stadium in Pattaya on Saturday 31 October to win the vacant WIBA World Atomweight Championship on the Brave Hearts card.
The fight was stopped in round 5. An accidental headbutt left the ringside doctor no choice but to call it off, and the bout went to the scorecards. Two judges had Abida ahead, 50-45 and 49-48, while the third scored it 48-47 for Sinongkhrot, giving Abida the title on a split technical decision.
Abida suffered a fractured nose in the fight, making the win all the more hard-earned.
“This is just the beginning. I'm coming for more titles.”

Second time lucky in Thailand
It was Abida's second title fight in Thailand this year. In January she challenged Wisuta Sririttidet for the WBC Asia atomweight title at World Siam Stadium in Bangkok and came up short. Ten months later, she went back and took a world title home, outpointing a Thai boxer on home soil in one of the toughest assignments in the lighter divisions.

“Super proud of Abida and what she has achieved, becoming the first ever Pakistani boxer, male or female, to win a world title. Wow, what an achievement.”

Dubai in her corner
Abida fought in gloves supplied by FYYTR, the UAE combat sports brand, and is one of the faces of its Amal Campaign, FYYTR's commitment to growing women's sport through boxing. Pakistan's women's professional scene is still small, which makes a world title from there rarer and harder won than most.
Already Pakistan's No.1 ranked female professional and WBC Asia #3, Abida was also the first female fighter ever signed to the PS Fight Series. She now adds a world title to that list.

Disclosure: Abida Batool is managed by Mudassar Khan, who leads NXT FIGHT. FYYTR and NXT FIGHT share ownership.
